Saving lives through prevention
Naturally, you'd rather avoid a serious heart problem than be treated for one. We couldn’t agree more. That’s why we’re so focused on prevention. Our coordinated care approach can lead to quicker, better diagnoses. Our research helps us develop new preventive cardiac treatments. And our programs and classes help members make positive lifestyle changes.
Leading the nation in controlling high blood pressure
High blood pressure is known as the silent killer because so many people don't know they have it. If left untreated, it can damage blood vessels and lead to stroke and heart attack.
To reduce this danger, Kaiser Permanente is actively lowering risks among people with high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and diabetes. In fact, we’re helping more of our members keep their high blood pressure under control than the national average.1
Proactive, personalized care
Your primary care doctor, cardiologist, nurses, and pharmacists are all connected to your electronic health record, so they're informed and ready to give you the care you need.2
From the start, we assess your risk for heart disease. Members with early risk factors are identified for closer monitoring and treatment.
Your electronic health record lets us schedule the recommended preventive screenings and remind you when it's time to come in.
Access to specialists
Your doctor can arrange referrals and order tests so your specialist has the results before your next appointment. And you can email your doctor’s office anytime.
